Kim’s passion is teaching, especially anatomy and physiology of the human body AND health and fitness. She loves teaching and coaching her students toward reaching their goals of becoming licensed massage therapists, certified personal trainers, attaining a college degree, or gaining necessary experience through internships or setting up their own business. By developing relationships with professionals in the field, Kim is able to help her students successfully achieve these goals.
About Empowered By Learning
Kim is a small business owner, having founded Empowered by Learning LLC in 2005, as a way to reach out to a larger audience with the teaching resources she has developed during her successful teaching career. Through her company, Kim offers classes and study materials for people seeking State of Ohio/National credentials in massage therapy and certification in personal training. Kim has published ebooks for massage therapists and personal trainers on subjects such as static stretching programs, exercise prescription for resistance training with machines, client intake forms, and the “how-to’s” of administering a fitness assessment. Kim has published numerous massage, exercise, personal training and study and test taking articles at EZineArticles.com. She also has her own YouTube channel with informative content for personal trainers, kinesiology and anatomy students. Kim also offers personal training, well coaching, life coaching, and massage services through her company.
Kim's Credentials
In addition to her Ohio massage license, Kim has her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, is certified as a life coach through Coach for Life Inc., and has personal trainer certifications from both the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). She is a certified well coach through ACSM and also has that organization’s Certified Health Fitness Specialist credential. Kim has earned the certificate as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from NSCA. In addition to running Empowered by Learning, she currently works as an associate professor at Otterbein University in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences.
